Mega Symphonia
Mega Evolution
The set that started it all. Mega Symphonia introduced the Mega Evolution era with Lucario and Gardevoir at its heart — two of the most beloved Mega forms in the franchise.
Mega Symphonia (M1S) and its counterpart Mega Brave (M1L) launched simultaneously in Japan on 1 August 2025, with the shared English edition Mega Evolution following on 26 September 2025. Symphonia's identity is built around Lucario and Gardevoir — the two Mega forms that defined Generation VI's competitive scene. The MHR treatments give both Pokémon compositions that feel more composed and artistic than the frenetic energy of later Mega sets. Mega Gardevoir ex received two distinct treatments: the MHR and the SIR, each with a different illustrator and mood.
Chase Pulls

Ryota Murayama's Mega Lucario ex MHR is the centrepiece of Symphonia. The composition places Lucario mid-Aura Sphere charge — the blue energy sphere illuminating the steel-type spikes from below, casting cold light across a dark arena. Murayama's understanding of Lucario's design — the aura sensors, the bone staff, the dignified combat posture — is evident in every detail. The MHR finish on this card is exceptional in person, the matte surface throwing back light differently from every angle.

Naoki Saito's Mega Gardevoir ex MHR takes a different approach from the SIR version — softer, more dreamlike, with trailing ribbons of psychic energy framing Gardevoir in a swirl of pink and white. The MHR format suits this illustration particularly well: the matte finish makes the soft colour gradients appear almost painted, giving the card a tactile quality that photographs cannot convey.

Akira Komayama's SIR treatment of Mega Gardevoir ex is the darker, more dramatic counterpart to Naoki Saito's MHR. Deep violet and black dominate, with Gardevoir's silhouette backlit by a crescent moon. The psychic energy tendrils take on a more ominous character here — Gardevoir as protector-become-force rather than elegant companion. Two interpretations of the same card are a collector's luxury: which resonates depends entirely on your relationship with the character.
Edition Notes
Mega Symphonia (M1S) is a 132-card Japanese print released August 2025. As the inaugural Mega set, JP printing was conservative — initial allocations sold out quickly at JP hobby shops, particularly in the weeks after EN release as demand expanded internationally. The JP MHR for Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex are considered the defining Symphonia pulls; the JP holo finish on the MHR cards is particularly striking given the colour palettes chosen for these illustrations.
The English Mega Evolution set (ME1) combined Symphonia and Brave into a single release of 188 cards, incorporating cards from both JP decks. The merged EN set means EN card numbering is completely different from either JP set — check enRef carefully when cross-referencing. EN release on 26 September 2025 gave collectors access to pulls from both JP sets in a single product, with boosters drawing from the combined pool.
